MEN’S HEALTH TOPICS

Urinary Tract Infection in Men: a UTI is a bacterial infection that may affect the kidneys, bladder, ureters, and urethra.

Symptoms: urinating more often than normal, painful or burning urination, leaking urine, pressure in your lower abdomen.
Treatment: specific antibiotics for a Urinary Tract Infection can be administered and improve the frequency of which you feel the need to urinate, and can also lessen the pain of urinating.

Erectile Dysfunction: Erectile dysfunction is characterized by not being able to get and keep an erection long enough to engage in sexual intercourse. It is common for there to be a psychological component to erectile dysfunction.

Symptoms: problems getting an erection, keeping an erection, and reduced sexual desire.
Treatment: There are many medicinal and psychological options for treating erectile dysfunction. The degree to which you are affected will determine which type of medication a health care provider may suggest.

Premature Ejaculation: Premature ejaculation is when a man consistently ejaculates before he and his partner would like. Occasional instances of this are not reason for concern, but regular premature ejaculations should be evaluated by a health care professional.

Symptoms: ejaculation that usually occurs within one minute of vaginal penetration, being unable to delay ejaculation, consistently having feelings of depression, stress, and inadequacy causing you to avoid sexual activity.
Treatment: Like erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation often has a psychological component that improves performance when addressed. Certain medications and techniques can also be helpful in improving performance.

Testicular Self-Exams: A testicular exam is done to examine the appearance and feel of the testicles. When done regularly, they can be used to find abnormalities and identify potential issues.
