Allergy Injection Services at Falcon Health Center

Falcon Health Center offers allergy injection services for BGSU faculty and students age 17 and older. If you’re currently receiving allergy shots from an outside allergist, you may have your serum sent directly to Falcon Health Center for ongoing administration and storage.

Please note that while we do not have an allergist on staff, our clinical team—including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and medical assistants—administers injections strictly according to your allergist’s orders. A physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner must be on-site during all injection appointments. This service does not establish a physician-patient relationship with Falcon Health Center for allergy-related care.

Important Considerations:

  • If you are prescribed a beta blocker, we require written authorization from your allergist before administering any allergy injections. Download a list of Beta Blockers.

  • First-time doses from a new vial (due to a change in concentration or manufacturer) must be given at your allergist’s office. Falcon Health Center does not administer initial doses from new vials.

Required Forms:

Before your first appointment, please print and have your allergist complete the following:

Completed forms can be faxed to 419-354-3222, Attn: Allergy Orders. Please allow at least 24 hours before calling to schedule your appointment.

Allergy Injection Guidelines

  • Appointments are required for all allergy injections and are available Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

  • Falcon Health Center must receive all completed paperwork and allergy serum prior to scheduling your first appointment.

  • It is the patient’s responsibility to ensure that all required forms and dosing instructions are submitted by the prescribing allergist.

  • Students must bring their serum to their appointment unless it is shipped directly from the allergist. If shipped, please call to confirm that we have received it.

  • All vials will be checked against physician orders for safety before administration.

  • New serum may be ordered on your behalf based on usage and your dosing schedule.

  • For your safety, Falcon Health Center does not mix allergy serum with other medications (e.g., Benadryl or Epinephrine). All medications will be drawn into individual syringes.

  • A post-injection observation period of 20–30 minutes is required after each visit. Failure to wait may result in discharge from our allergy injection program.

  • Patients who miss three scheduled appointments or receive three injections outside their allergist’s late dosing policy may be removed from this service.
